Credo: Journey of Renewal

On this day in 2017 I had a conversion experience that changed my life. I was listening to a consultant during a routine cardiology appointment when suddenly everything came into the sharpest focus. In one powerful, convicting moment, I knew I was no longer an atheist. I was a Christian.

Following that moment, I began to live much more simply. I took a deeper interest in my local community, and my reading and research began to take on a distinct religious direction.

On this day in 2019, exactly two years later, a close family member passed away. Once again, I experienced that same sense of clarity. This time, I knew that I wanted to become Catholic. You can read more about my conversion experience on the Credo page of this website.

As part of this transition I decided to leave academia. I wanted to focus on a different kind of teaching and research — something that allowed me to serve my community while supporting my journey toward the Catholic Church.

This journey has been the most exciting and challenging thing I have ever done, and I am grateful for all of it. This year, it feels as though I am entering a new phase. I was baptised as an infant 40 years ago this year, and it is also now exactly 7 years since my journey toward the Catholic Church began. Both numbers carry biblical significance: 40 is associated with trial, testing, and preparation; while 7 is traditionally a number signalling completion. It feels like a time of transition, of new possibilities.

I look forward to seeing where this renewed faith leads me. I am moving forward with a quiet, firm hope, deeply grateful for the joy and love I encounter along the way.

This website will continue to evolve along lines in harmony with this direction. You are very much welcome to join me.

Deo gratias. Corpus Christi, 7 June 2026.
